Maternity Clothes

For the longest time, I absolutely refused to spend any money on maternity clothes. I just couldn't justify spending ridiculous amounts of money on clothes I'd only wear for a couple months.

However, after finding Motherhood Maternity online, I am happy to say that I can feel pretty good about purchasing some necessary basics that fit for almost a steal. Just think of it as a Forever 21 for maternity clothes. I love shopping their sale section as I regularly find items for around $5 and they always have $6 shipping on all orders.

I did manage to wear most of my cute pre-preggo clothes up until month 7 with some great inexpensive accessories to help you get the most out of your favorites! Here is my must-have list of accessories that every thrifty expecting mom should own!

The BellaBand
My first pregnancy purchase and by far one of my favorites. I love love love my designer Frankie B Jeans and was terribly upset when by month 3, hopes of buttoning them were futile. I went ahead and did the rubberband trick (where you take a non-ouchy hair band and attached it to the hole by looping one helf thru the button hole and pulling the other side through the middle - so now you have an "extension". You can now loop this over the button!) but all that does is keep the pants together...as you can imagine, it's not so pretty.) It was actually fine if I wore long shirts, but once I found this product, it took care of everything! Specifically designed for expectant mothers. Ultra-soft, stretch nylon. Holds up loose fitting pants, skirts or shorts. Disguises bulky unfastened buttons and zippers. Conceals excess fabric and smooths out panels. Ideal for extra reinforcement over maternity waistbands. Slip the ultra-soft knit band on over your waistband (yes, over your unbuttoned pants) for instant hold and comfort and a fabulous smooth look. I highly recommend purchasing one in white and one in black.

Bra Extenders
And of course, we all have our favorite bras. Unfortunately, not only does our cup size increase, but we tend to get that gross, ugly "back fat" roll that shows as the strap/band gets tighter around the middle. I, of course, refused to buy any new bras but hated that fat roll. Then I found these - they extend the life of your favorite bras by giving you that added inch or two :o) Love it! Comes in a pack of 6 - two black, two nude and two white!

Lily Padz
My latest find - I wish I had found these years ago. I think they are great for two reasons - to simply use to keep yourself from having "headlights" (they are sooooo much better than a strapless or those painful adhesive stickers) and also to prevent leaks. I, like most women, opted to buy the huge 100 pack of disposable nursing pads because of course, we're sure to need them. But no matter how "thin" they claim to be, they are still hard to conceal, bulky maxi pads you shove into your bra. You have to carry extras around, they smell, they are messy, etc. Yuckaroo. Then I found these - AWESOME. They are silicone shaped disks that simply stick/suction onto your breast and appear absolutely flawless under even tight fitting t-shirts. You don't have to change them out - just rinse with warm soapy water once a day. They are painless to remove as they aren't stuck on with any adhesive and they stay put all day long. The are continuously reusable for up to 2 months (as the package says), but I've had mine for 3 and they are still going strong. Best part is, they don't absorb leaks, THEY PREVENT them!
